Friday, 10/04, 5-7pm, Auditorium: Come support local child author Kingston Nevils as he reads from his book: "The Bully". We will also have an exhibit for the 50 years of Coretta Scott King Book Awards! Light refreshments will be served.

Bio: Kingston Morrell Nevils was born on November 26, 2008 at 10:52pm. He is 10 years old. He was born in Rochester Michigan at Crittenton Hospital. He just graduated from Roosevelt Elementary and will be attending Abbott Middle School in the fall. His mom inspires him to never give up, and to keep going. Kingston just wants to speak for the kids who are scared to speak up. The reason why Kingston wrote the book “The Bully” was to shine light on bullying, how it’s very wrong, and to talk about how kids are hurting themselves because of bullies. He wants to become an actor/writer and be successful. He played football for five years with the Pontiac Panthers, skied for four years with a Ski Club, just got into playing basketball with the Sky’s The Limit AAU team, and was in drama club for two years

Book description: Luke White is a Super Hero in his world, but in school he has been identified and labeled as a “BULLY”. This third grader has a horrible time making friends and goes around picking on other students daily. Only certain people know Luke’s secret and cannot believe how he acts towards other students. A couple of students decided to band together and demand Luke gets suspended from school for his actions! The Bully is an easy to read chapter book geared to captivate the attention of children. Although this book is “fictional”, there is a real life message for both the victims and bullies of today’s world. I, Kingston Nevils, wrote this book in hopes of promoting and encouraging reading, reading, and more reading within the youth and inter-cities. I wanted to also speak out for victims of bullying. My mom inspired me to just write, and told me that, when I set my mind to something, I can do it.
